Maxie DVD For Sale 1985 Glenn Close Mandy Patinkin R1

DVD Synopsis and information:

Glenn Close makes her starring debut in the role of Jan in this odd Body Swap comedy. This was one of the body switch movies that trended strong in the 80s. Close sensed a special potential in playing a high minded San Francisco wife and conservative Catholic Arch Bishop's assistant whose body is somehow possessed by a free spirited 20s guy. This a more than amiable and somewhat old fashioned comedy that has some great moments of fun and charm. Jan her librarian husband Nick, played by Mandy Patinkin, find out Maxie's past in their spacious Victorian style home. Their old lady neighbor, played fabulously by the immortal Ruth Gordon, her final role, tells the couple that Maxie was on the verge of being a silent film star when she was killed in in an automobile accident in 1927. Maxie is a really fun switcheroo or body takeover movie, take your pick.

Maxie's coming into Jan continues to live on and her ghost form begins to occupy Jan's body more frequently. This sends her spouse  Nick into a freakout when Maxie pops in at the most inappropriate times. Maxie simply needs another shot at being a star and she hopes to get her chance in a remake of Cleopatra with uncredited role by Harry Hamlin (Clash Of The Titans) playing Marc Antony. Close and Patinkin and hilarious in this comedy. This is a fun 80s comedy with lots of laughs. Close does a great job in both her roles as Jan and Maxie.
